Hailsham Town Council continually aims to tackle graffiti on Town Council property and the town at large, and does so effectively through its online reporting scheme and the recently purchased street cleaning vehicle.
Online Reporting Scheme
Our online graffiti reporting scheme has been warmly received by residents since its launch in 2025, providing a simple and effective way for the public to help tackle vandalism and protect the town’s public spaces.
The scheme enables residents to quickly report graffiti, vandalism or damage to Town Council-owned property using an easy-to-complete online form. Since its introduction, members of the public have made good use of the service, allowing the Council’s maintenance team to respond more efficiently and arrange repairs or graffiti removal as quickly as possible.
To make reporting even easier, QR code stickers have been installed on Town Council-maintained assets, including bus shelters, noticeboards, play areas and community buildings. By scanning the code with a mobile phone, residents can submit a report immediately while out and about.
The scheme has proved particularly valuable, with reports of graffiti at locations including the Tony Tack Memorial Skate Park, community noticeboards, bus shelters and other public facilities. While the Town Council is committed to removing graffiti as quickly as possible, every incident requires staff time and resources that could otherwise be spent on improving and maintaining community facilities.
Hailsham Town Council continues to work closely with Sussex Police and local partners to tackle anti-social behaviour and reduce incidents of graffiti and vandalism. The Council hopes that residents will continue to use the reporting scheme to help protect community assets and ensure public spaces remain safe and attractive for everyone.

Graffiti Removal Vehicle
We continue to step up efforts to tackle graffiti and improve the appearance of the town and have recently purchased a specialist, fully electric street cleaning vehicle.
The graffiti removal vehicle was purchased using the Town Council’s Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) funds, providing a dedicated mobile resource to help tackle graffiti and other cleaning issues in difficult-to-access areas across Hailsham, as well as keeping the bus shelters and other structures maintained by the Town Council clean and graffiti-free.
Being fully electric, the vehicle also provides a more environmentally friendly approach to street cleaning, while allowing the Council to respond more effectively to local issues. The investment demonstrates the Town Council’s proactive approach to tackling graffiti and vandalism to public property.
We want to see a cleaner, tidier Hailsham, and this investment gives us another practical tool to achieve that. Importantly, this is not simply about cleaning up after anti-social behaviour has taken place. We want to work with our partners and the community to identify problems, respond to them and discourage further incidents wherever possible.

The Council is particularly keen to receive reports of graffiti in public areas so that it can identify locations where repeat incidents are occurring and consider appropriate action.
