MAINTENANCE OPERATIVE
SALARY SCALE: (SCP Range 7-11) £26,403 to £28,142 per annum
HOURS: 37 per week (summer and winter working hours pattern)
- Summer (April to September | 8am-4.30pm Monday to Thursday / 8am-3.30pm Friday)
- Winter (October to March | 8am-3.30pm Monday to Friday)
TERM: Permanent/Full-time
LOCATION: Various Town Council sites
CLOSING DATE: 4pm, Friday 31st July 2026
INTERVIEW DATE: Monday 10th August 2026
AN EXCITING JOB OPPORTUNITY! Hailsham Town Council is a forward-thinking employer. As Maintenance Operative, you will be joining an established team responsible for maintaining and repairing a broad range of Council-owned property, recreational sites and public open spaces. The post holder will be part of a busy team keeping all Council-owned or managed sites in good and safe working order.
As well as having a professional manner and the ability to work to a high standard, you will be able to work flexibly and collaboratively as part of a friendly team. You will need to have knowledge of the ground and general maintenance environment and have an enthusiastic and positive attitude so you can promote the services and facilities that Hailsham has to offer. A current driving licence is essential.

JAMES WEST COMMUNITY CENTRE MANAGER
SALARY SCALE: SCP (13-16) £29,064 – £30,518 pro rata for part time hours
HOURS: 30 hours per week (Monday-Friday, with some weekend and evening cover)
TERM: Permanent/Part-time
LOCATION: James West Community Centre, Brunel Drive, Hailsham
CLOSING DATE: 4pm, Thursday 6th August 2026
INTERVIEW DATE: Week commencing Monday 17th August 2026
Main Purpose of the Roles: To manage the day‑to‑day operation of the James West Community Centre, including bookings management, providing excellent customer services to new and regular Centre users, cleaning, security of the building and maintenance and stock checks.
