Kate Anderson-Bishop has been honoured as a ‘Hailsham Hero,’ winning the Mayor’s Hailsham Hero of the Year Award at the 2025 Hailsham Hero Awards ceremony. The event, organised and hosted by Hailsham FM and Hailsham News – Community Newspaper, took place at the Kings Head in Horsebridge on Friday, 14 November.
The Hailsham Hero Award, was originally set up by the Town Council to recognise individuals who have achieved great things for the local community, committed a single act of bravery, heroism or selflessness, or have gone above and beyond what is expected of them to make things happen.

Outstanding Young Person Award (Recognising an inspirational young person aged 4-12 who makes a positive impact in their community or within their school/after school/sports/activity group)
Fundraiser of the Year (Honouring a local resident for their fundraising efforts to support local charities or causes)
Group Organisation Award (Celebrating a local group/organisation that has made a meaningful and positive impact in the local community)
Charity of the Year (Recognising a charity/non-profit organisationwhich makes a real difference in Hailsham)
Business Contribution to Charity Award (A new award for 2025, thanking a local business which supports a Hailsham-based charity/non-profit organisation)
Mayor’s Hero of the Year Award (The headline award recognising the ‘Hailsham Hero for 2025’, awarded to someone who has made a big difference to an individual/family/group or who has had an ongoing involvement with local causes)
“Congratulations to Kate Anderson-Bishop for receiving the Mayor’s Hero of the Year Award. She thoroughly deserved it,” said Town Mayor Councillor Chris Bryant who presented Kate with the award on the night. “Thanks must go to Kate for all her hard work and time dedicated to creating an inclusive and welcoming space at Dippy Doodahs – and supporting community groups with dedication.”
Cllr Bryant added: “Congratulations to all nominees and all the category award recipients this year. It goes without saying that there are many selfless, hard-working, dedicated and talented people in the Hailsham community.”
