Town Council Offers Free Publicity for Local Community Groups, Clubs and Charities

Hailsham Town Council is inviting local community groups, voluntary organisations, sports clubs and registered charities to make use of a free promotional opportunity designed to help them connect with more people across the town.

Organisations based in Hailsham and providing a service, activity or opportunity for local residents can have their details featured through the Town Council’s communication channels, helping to raise awareness of the work they do and making it easier for residents to find out about the support, activities and services available within the community.

The initiative is open to eligible non-profit organisations and provides free listings in the ‘Community & Residents’ section of the official  Town Council website, hailsham-tc.gov.uk. Details can also be displayed on the public noticeboards located at Vicarage Field and at the Town Council offices in Market Street.

The scheme is intended to provide an additional platform for local organisations to promote themselves, particularly those which may not have the resources or budget for paid advertising. A listing can help residents discover local clubs and groups they may otherwise be unaware of, while also potentially helping organisations attract new members, volunteers, participants and supporters.

Karen Giddings, Corporate Services Manager at the Town Council, said: “Hailsham has a fantastic network of community organisations, many of which provide essential services, activities and opportunities for local people. We want to help make sure that residents know what is available to them, while giving local groups another way of promoting the work they do.”

“This is a completely free service and provides organisations with an opportunity to increase their profile within the town. Where appropriate, we can also include links to an organisation’s own website or social media channels, making it easier for people to find further information or get in touch directly.”

Councillor Anne Marie Ricketts, Chair of the Communities Committee, said: “Our community groups, charities, clubs and voluntary organisations are an essential part of what makes Hailsham such a vibrant and welcoming place. From sports and leisure activities to support services, social groups and charitable work, they provide countless opportunities for residents to get involved and connect with others.”

“We know that many organisations rely on word of mouth to attract new members and volunteers, and sometimes people simply don’t know that a particular group exists. This free publicity gives local organisations another opportunity to put themselves in front of residents and highlight the valuable work they are doing.”

She added: “If your organisation is not currently listed, I would strongly encourage you to get in touch. Whether you are looking for new members, volunteers, participants or simply want more people to know about your activities, there is nothing to lose by taking advantage of this free opportunity.”

The Town Council hopes the initiative will also help strengthen connections between local organisations and residents, making it easier for people to find activities, support networks and opportunities that match their interests or needs.

For residents, the listings provide a useful way to discover the wide range of community activities and services available locally. For organisations, they offer an additional means of reaching potential members, volunteers and supporters without incurring any advertising costs.

Hailsham Town Council is particularly keen to hear from eligible organisations which are not currently featured, ensuring that residents have access to as comprehensive a directory of local community opportunities as possible.
