Hailsham Town Council has awarded a £250 grant to Hailsham Table Tennis Club as part of its 2026/27 Community Grants Scheme, helping the club continue to provide inclusive sporting opportunities for local residents.

The funding forms part of a wider programme of grants recently distributed to community groups and voluntary organisations across Hailsham. The scheme is designed to support non-profit organisations that deliver valuable services, activities and projects for the benefit of the local community.

The grant will help the club maintain and improve its equipment, including tables, nets and barriers, while also supporting additional coaching opportunities for younger players.

Speaking on behalf of the club, Diane Griggs said: “We would like to thank Hailsham Town Council for its generous support. The grant will help us maintain our existing equipment, purchase new tables and barriers, and continue providing extra coaching for our promising junior players.”

Hailsham Table Tennis Club meets at the James West Community Centre on Tuesday mornings from 10.30am to 12.30pm and Wednesday evenings from 7.15pm to 9.15pm.

The club aims to provide a friendly, inclusive and welcoming environment that supports both physical and mental wellbeing for people of all ages and abilities. Session fees are kept to a minimum, all equipment can be provided, and new players are invited to attend their first session free of charge.

The Mayor of Hailsham, Chris Bryant, welcomed the grant award and praised the club’s contribution to the community.

“The Town Council is delighted to support Hailsham Table Tennis Club with a £250 grant towards the purchase of additional tables, barriers and equipment,” he said. “This is a fantastic local club which brings people together through sport and provides enjoyment for players of all ages and abilities. I have been particularly impressed by the enthusiasm and skill of the players, as well as the excellent facilities available at the James West Community Centre.”

He added: “Small community grants such as these can make a significant difference to local organisations when planning and delivering worthwhile projects and activities.”
