The Square Youth Café team has organised a varied line-up of activities designed to liven up the summer holidays and encourage even more people through the doors of the youth centre, including taking cookery sessions where young people can learn how to prepare meal recipes.

Afternoon sessions at the Square Youth Café will take place from 3pm to 5pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays during the summer break, whilst evening sessions will remain unchanged and take place Monday to Friday from 6.45pm-9pm.

Other centres managed by Hailsham Youth Service will operate at normal times throughout the summer holiday, including the Monday Youth Hub (Monday evenings – James West Community Centre), Hellingly Youth Hub (Wednesday evenings – Hellingly Community Hub) and Eastside Youth Hub (Thursday evenings – Hailsham East Community Centre).

Friday Night Project activity sessions will close for the summer break (resuming in September), although a number of special one-off events have been organised by Hailsham Youth Service for families and young people.

“Young people have been happy with the wide range of summer activities in recent years, many of which were keenly anticipated,” said Andy Joyes, Youth Service Manager at the Town Council. “We want this summer to be challenging and fun for young people and I know that those who take part in the various activities organised by  Hailsham Youth Service and its project partners enjoy them tremendously.”

Mr Joyes added: “Hailsham Youth Service aims to provide aim to provide inclusive activities for all young people, supervised by staff members to ensure their safety and well-being at all times.”

Town Mayor Councillor Paul Holbrook commented: “Parents can be confident that our youth service provides a safe environment for our local young people, giving them a place to socialise during summer holidays. Young people always look forward to various outings which make up part of Hailsham Youth Service’s provision and are always keen to take advantage of the many opportunities being offered by our youth worker team.”

“The team has established a successful and ongoing service for young people in Hailsham again this year and there’s no reason for young people to find themselves bored during the summer holiday!”
