Social Distancing at Allotment Sites in Hailsham

Hailsham Allotments 

Hailsham Town Council‘s allotment sites in Battle Road, Station Road and Harold Avenue remain open to tenants during the lockdown, although people are encouraged to observe the latest social distancing rules and coronavirus-protection guildelines when visiting their plots.

The public must follow the guidelines below when tending to their allotments:

  • Observe the latest government social distancing guidelines with each other
  • Have hand sanitiser available and disinfect your hands regularly
  • Minimise contact with each other, e.g. no hand-shaking
  • Do not share tools or or any other equipment with another plot holder
  • Follow all government guidance on personal hygiene prior to and during use of allotment sites

ANY PLOT HOLDER WHO IS SELF-ISOLATING BECAUSE A HOUSEHOLD MEMBER IS ILL WITH CORONAVIRUS SHOULD NOT BE VISITNG ANY ALLOTMENT SITE.

Town Mayor Cllr Paul Holbrook commented: “Taking into account the instructions and guidelines around movement and social gatherings from the Government, we cannot emphasise enough the importance of following all the advice concerning social distancing and hygiene. This is a very challenging time for so many people and of course the health and safety of our residents remains our top priority.”
