Residents in Hailsham who are looking to begin a new hobby, volunteer in the community or meet new people in 2026 are invited to attend a special New Year Resolution event on Saturday 31st January at the Charles Hunt Centre in Vicarage Field.

The event, which takes place from 10am to 1pm, will bring together a wide range of local community groups, clubs and voluntary organisations, offering residents the chance to discover new opportunities and learn more about activities taking place across the town.

Organised by the Hailsham Community Groups Forum and What’s On In Hailsham, and sponsorsed by Pro Eco and Hailsham Lions, the event is open to all. Representatives from participating organisations will be available throughout the morning to explain what they do, how they support the community and how new members or volunteers can get involved.

The event aims to highlight the wide variety of opportunities available in Hailsham, from creative and cultural activities to sports, social groups and community support services. Many of the organisations rely on volunteers and welcome new members of all ages and backgrounds.

Cllr Anne Marie Ricketts, Chair of the Town Council’s Communities Committee commented: “The start of a new year often encourages people to try something different or take on a new challenge. This event brings together a wide range of organisations that offer meaningful ways to get involved, whether through learning, volunteering or simply enjoying a new pastime.”

“I am delighted to be attending this gathering of community groups and to help give residents the chance to meet the people behind them. There is something for everyone, whether you want to contribute your time, explore a new interest or find a welcoming social group. We hope visitors will leave feeling inspired and ready to take the next step.”

Event organiser Jenny Seale said: “Hailsham has a strong tradition of community involvement and this event is an excellent way for residents to explore the many opportunities available. Joining a local group can help people build new friendships, develop skills and feel more connected to the town. I encourage residents to come along and see what inspires them.”
