As temperatures continue to soar across East Sussex, Hailsham Town Council is reminding residents and visitors to stay hydrated by making use of the growing network of free water refill stations available through the town’s successful Refill Hailsham initiative.
The scheme, which aims to reduce plastic waste while promoting healthy hydration habits, makes it easy for people to refill reusable water bottles free of charge at participating businesses and community venues across Hailsham and the surrounding area.
With the current spell of very warm weather expected to continue for a few more days, the Town Council is encouraging everyone to take advantage of the refill stations when out and about, helping them stay refreshed while also cutting down on single-use plastic waste.
Supported by Hailsham Town Council, the Refill Hailsham initiative has continued to grow, with an increasing number of local businesses and organisations welcoming members of the public to top up their water bottles free of charge.
Participating refill stations currently include:
The Town Council is keen to welcome even more businesses and community groups to the initiative, helping to expand the network of refill points available to residents and visitors alike.
People can also download the Refill App, available on Google Play and the App Store, which allows users to locate nearby refill stations not only in Hailsham but across the UK.
Town councillor Mary Laxton said: “With the current heatwave and hot weather affecting our area, it’s more important than ever that people stay hydrated, particularly when spending time outdoors. The Refill Hailsham scheme provides a simple and convenient way for residents and visitors to access free drinking water while they’re out and about.”
“At the same time, every refill helps reduce the number of single-use plastic bottles being used and discarded. It’s fantastic to see so many local businesses supporting the scheme, and I would encourage everyone to carry a reusable bottle and take advantage of the refill stations available across our town.”
A new water refill station has been installed to help promote sustainability and cut plastic waste.
