Hailsham Town Council’s youth services continue to go grow, providing a range of opportunities and activities for young people in the town between the ages of 11-17.
A variety of activities for young people have been planned by Hailsham Youth Service for the Friday Night Project from January through to early April including ten-pin bowling and Swimming with Inflatables at Freedom Leisure Centre, dry slope skiing lessons and Ringo Tobogganing at Knockhatch Ski Centre, Inflatables at the James West Community Centre, and various activities at Knockhatch Adventure Park such as Giant Pillows, Wave Runner and Lost World.
The Friday Night Project, which is funded by the Safer Wealden Partnership and managed by Hailsham Town Council, works in partnership with Hailsham Community College, Knockhatch and Freedom Leisure to help create alternative recreational activities for young people on Friday evenings, will also continue to be a feature in young people’s social events calendar for the remainder of the year.
“The Friday Night Project gives young people an opportunity to experience challenges of different recreational activities and prevent boredom and antisocial behaviour, and I’m confident it will continue to be successful well into the future,” said Andy Joyes, Youth Service Manager at Hailsham Town Council.
“The Friday Night Project is a classic example of partnership in the community and I’d like to thank my colleagues at Hailsham Youth Service, Knockhatch, Freedom Leisure and Hailsham Community College for all the support put into organising these events.”
If that was not enough, young people from Hailsham are invited to reserve their places for an Activity Weekend at the PGL Centre in Windmill Hill this spring, scheduled to take place on Friday 1st to Sunday 3rd April. Young people will be able to pack in as many activities as they can during their weekend stay at the centre, including climbing, trapeze, All Aboard, raft-building, as well as problem-solving and team-building skills.
The total cost for the activity weekend is £94 per person, with a deposit of £24 required. To book your space and for more information, email info@hailshamyouthservice
Town Mayor Councillor Paul Holbrook commented: “Young people always look forward to various outings which make up part of Hailsham Youth Service’s provision, and are always keen to take advantage of the many opportunities being offered by our youth worker team.”
“It is a great achievement that Hailsham Town Council, Hailsham Youth Service and project partners have come together to give young people another opportunity to engage in really exciting recreational activities.”
Councillor Holbrook added: “I am delighted with the quality of service provided for the young people of Hailsham in general, and confident that such organised activities will continue to be successful well into the future.”
Young people aged between 11 and 17 years are welcome to attend outings organised by the Hailsham Youth Service.
