Hailsham Town Council is pleased to announce that Mickey Caira has been elected to serve as councillor for the West Ward following the by-election held last Thursday [27th November], securing 278 votes.
The by-election follows the resignation of Councillor Nathalie Hayes in October. Mr Caira’s election returns the Council to its full membership of 18 councillors.
Mr Caira said he was grateful for the support shown by voters and motivated by a desire to contribute further to the town’s future: “I will use my experience to focus on supporting local businesses and community organisation, as well as challenging all expenditure to ensure Hailsham Town Council delivers quality services and eliminates wastage.”
“I would like to thank all the election services staff from Wealden District Council and my fellow candidates who put up a fair fight for this vacancy. I would also like to thank Reform UK members and supporters who that helped with this campaign.”
Mr Caira will serve until the next full town council elections, scheduled to take place in May 2027.
