Hailsham Town Council is pleased to remind residents and visitors that its information point, located within the Town Council offices in Market Street, remains open and accessible as a central hub for advice, guidance and local information.
Situated at the front reception, the information point and public enquiries desk provide a convenient, one-stop location for enquiries. A wide selection of locally produced leaflets, brochures and informational materials is available, offering valuable insights into the town and surrounding area.
Staffed by knowledgeable personnel, the information point offers free assistance to day visitors, residents and group travel organisers. Advice is available on a variety of topics, including local attractions, guided tours, festivals, accommodation and upcoming events, as well as recommendations for places to visit in nearby areas in the county.
In addition, residents can access information on local and council services, community safety, consumer advice and public transport, including up-to-date local bus timetables.
Karen Giddings, Corporate Services Manager at Hailsham Town Council, said: “Hailsham Town Council is committed to ensuring that the public can easily access accurate and up-to-date information through a variety of channels, including our reception service. We are confident that both residents and visitors will benefit from the wide range of resources available.”
The reception area also features informative displays covering a range of topics, alongside Hailsham Town Guides, area maps and details of the town’s public open spaces, all available for visitors to browse or take away.
Visitors interested in exploring the town’s heritage can take part in the Hailsham Heritage Trail. Trail guides, available for purchase at £1 from reception, include historical photographs and detailed information about notable buildings and locations. The trail route guides users through the town centre and surrounding areas, highlighting points of historical significance.
Members of the public can also learn more about Hailsham through the Official Hailsham Town Guide, published by the Town Council. This comprehensive guide includes a brief history of the town, along with information on public services, education, healthcare facilities and housing. It also outlines the roles of town, district and county councils, and features sections on sports, recreation, local events and community life – making it particularly useful for those considering moving to the area.
The guide further includes a directory of local services, key contact details, a road map of the town and a dedicated map showing parish ward boundaries.
Copies of the Official Hailsham Town Guide are available free of charge from the Town Council offices, although donations towards printing costs are welcomed.
Karen Giddings added: “This guide has been produced with both residents and visitors in mind. As a historic market town, Hailsham continues to attract those interested in its heritage, as well as people looking to enjoy its amenities and community life. We hope the guide serves as both a useful introduction and a practical reference for anyone wanting to learn more about what Hailsham has to offer.”
