Hailsham Town Council is encouraging residents, visitors and shoppers to head to Vicarage Field on Friday 25 September for the latest instalment of the Hailsham Street Market.
Running from 9.30am until 1.30pm, the monthly market will bring together independent traders, local businesses, producers and makers, creating an opportunity for shoppers to discover unique products, pick up something different and support small businesses from the local area.
Visitors can expect a varied selection of stalls, with products ranging from artisan and freshly prepared foods to handmade gifts, jewellery, clothing, flowers, homeware, crafts and other locally produced goods.

The market’s current home at Vicarage Field follows a series of trial events held at Blackman’s Yard. After considering feedback from both traders and the public, the Town Council determined that Vicarage Field offered the most suitable setting for a regular market.
The Street Market has since become an established feature of Hailsham’s town centre calendar, with markets held on the last Friday of each month throughout the March to September season.
Tony Lee, Operations and Facilities Manager at Hailsham Town Council, said: “The Street Market has quickly become a much-anticipated feature of the town centre, and Vicarage Field offers a welcoming and accessible location for both traders and visitors. The continued interest from stallholders is particularly encouraging and shows that there is a real appetite for a regular market in Hailsham.”
“One of the great things about a market is the chance to come across independent businesses, handmade goods and locally produced products that you might not find on the usual high street. We look forward to welcoming residents and visitors to Vicarage Field on 25 September and hope they enjoy exploring the stalls and supporting the traders.”
Councillor Anne Marie Ricketts, Chair of the Town Council’s Communities Committee, added: “The Street Market brings a real sense of activity and vibrancy to the town centre. It gives independent traders and small businesses an opportunity to showcase what they do, while offering residents and visitors another reason to come into Hailsham, browse, shop and spend time in the town.”
“It is particularly encouraging to see the level of interest from traders, with so many pitches already taken during this year’s market season. We would encourage everyone to come along, explore the stalls and show their support for the businesses, producers and creative makers who contribute so much to the character of our local community.”
The Hailsham Street Market is part of the Town Council’s wider work to promote local shopping, support independent enterprise and help maintain a vibrant and welcoming town centre. By bringing traders and shoppers together, the event provides an additional reason for people to visit Hailsham while complementing the shops, cafés, businesses and other services already operating in the High Street and surrounding areas.
With the current market season concluding in September, traders who are interested in participating in future events are encouraged to register their interest as early as possible. Demand for market pitches remains strong and spaces can be limited.
