The Town Council is pleased to announce the official opening of Poundstretcher’s new store at The Quintin’s Shopping Centre in Hailsham, marking a further addition to the town centre’s retail offer.
On Friday [9 October], Deputy Town Mayor Cllr Colin Mitchell officially declared the new store open by cutting the ribbon, welcoming the retailer and its team to Hailsham.
Poundstretcher has recently moved into the former Poundland premises at The Quintin’s Shopping Centre, bringing its range of branded and non-branded products to shoppers in the town. The new store is expected to create up to 10 new jobs, providing additional employment opportunities for local residents and contributing to the ongoing activity within the town centre.
The store offers a selection of products across a number of departments, including clothing, snacks, storage, pet goods, DIY, gardening, health and beauty, home décor, sweets and drinks. Poundstretcher says its stores provide customers with a broad choice of everyday essentials and household products at value-focused prices.
“It was a pleasure to officially open the new Poundstretcher store and to welcome the team to Hailsham,” said Cllr Mitchell. “It is always encouraging to see new businesses establishing themselves in our town centre, particularly at a time when the retail sector continues to face significant challenges.”
“The arrival of Poundstretcher brings a well-known retailer back into this prominent unit at The Quintin’s Shopping Centre and provides local residents with another option for shopping locally. The creation of up to 10 new jobs is also welcome news for the local community.”
“A thriving town centre relies on a good mix of shops, services and businesses, and new investment such as this helps to maintain activity and footfall. We want Hailsham to remain a welcoming and attractive place to live, work, shop and visit, and supporting a diverse and active town centre is an important part of that.”
Cllr Anne Marie Ricketts, Chair of the Town Council’s Communities Committee, said: “It is encouraging to see another business taking up premises in our town centre and bringing new employment opportunities with it. The Quintin’s Shopping Centre is an important part of Hailsham’s retail environment, and new openings such as this help to maintain activity and choice for local residents and visitors.”
“I hope residents will take the opportunity to visit the new store and see the range of products available. We wish the management and staff every success as they establish themselves within our town centre.”
