As the New Year begins, staff at the Hailsham town centre Post Office have extended their best wishes to the local community and reaffirmed their commitment to delivering a wide range of essential services to residents and businesses, including in-branch banking facilities.

Post Office Manager Steph Stephens expressed her gratitude for the continued support of the community. She noted that more than six years on, the Post Office remains a vital and well-used local service: “We have another busy year ahead and I am extremely thankful for the ongoing encouragement from our customers,” said Steph.

“People continue to value both our dedicated staff and the comprehensive range of services we offer, including banking services and the temporary accommodation of the Hailsham Banking Hub.”

Town Clerk and Postmaster John Harrison also praised the ongoing success of the High Street branch: “The Post Office has gone from strength to strength since reopening in 2019. More than six years later, residents continue to express their appreciation for the Town Council’s decision to take on the franchise and safeguard this important community asset. I would like to thank both our customers and the Post Office team for their continued support.”

Mr Harrison highlighted the importance of the banking services currently available at the branch, particularly in light of recent bank closures.

“The provision of banking services through the Post Office, alongside the opening of the Hailsham Banking Hub on site last March, has been invaluable to the community. The Banking Hub will continue to operate from the Post Office until permanent premises are secured.”

POST OFFICE OPENING HOURS:

Monday to Friday: 9am – 5pm
Saturday: 9am – 1pm
Sunday: Closed

Cllr Mary Laxton, Chair of the Post Office Committee also welcomed the continued success of the town centre Post Office.

“Since the Town Council took on the franchise and ultimately saved this essential community facility from closure, the public have consistently commended the decision,” said Cllr Bryant. “Residents continue to show their appreciation through positive feedback, both online and in person at the branch.”

“It is especially encouraging to see the Post Office remain so conveniently located for local businesses and residents, particularly older members of the community who rely heavily on easy access to these vital services.”
