Hailsham Town Council has awarded a £500 Community Grant to local organisation Instructions Not Required, helping to support its popular community Lego® sessions and ensuring more residents can enjoy creative, inclusive activities throughout the year.
The grant has been awarded through the Town Council’s 2026/27 Community Grants Scheme, which has distributed £9,000 to a variety of local charities, community groups and voluntary organisations delivering projects that enhance the lives of Hailsham residents.
Instructions Not Required runs regular Lego® building sessions for children aged 4-12+, providing a welcoming environment where participants can enjoy imaginative free-building, themed construction challenges and collaborative activities. The organisation also delivers educational workshops, Lego® robotics sessions, animation projects, activities for uniformed groups, as well as parties and community events.
The Town Council’s funding will contribute towards the continued delivery of the organisation’s Bricks of Belonging Project, helping to cover venue hire, building materials and facilitator costs. The grant will also enable the group to continue offering free or affordable sessions, ensuring that children and families can participate regardless of their financial circumstances.
The Community Grants Scheme is one of the key ways in which Hailsham Town Council supports the voluntary sector, recognising the important contribution local organisations make to community wellbeing, education, inclusion and recreation. Many groups rely heavily on fundraising, donations and volunteers, with Council grants providing valuable financial support to help projects grow and reach more people.

While £500 may seem a modest amount, grants of this nature can make a real difference by helping community groups develop projects or organise activities that might not otherwise be possible. Our voluntary organisations contribute enormously to the social fabric of Hailsham, and we remain committed to supporting the invaluable work they do for residents of all ages.”
The Town Council hopes the funding will enable even more local families to benefit from the Bricks of Belonging Project while encouraging creativity, confidence, teamwork and social interaction in a fun and supportive setting.
