The Mayor and Deputy Mayor of Hailsham officially opened a new tabletop gaming shop – Nat 20 Gaming – at a special ceremony held on Saturday [16th May] at its new premises in Market Square.

Town Mayor Cllr Chris Bryant and Deputy Cllr Colin Mitchell joined staff and invited guests to celebrate the official opening of the business at 1 Market Square, formerly occupied by the Square Youth Cafe before Hailsham Youth Service relocated to the Station Youth Centre in Western Road in 2024.

Nat 20 Gaming aims to provide not only a retail outlet for gaming products, but also a welcoming hub for the gaming community. The business offers an online shop, character generation tools for members, 3D printing services for gaming miniatures and opportunities for players to connect with wider gaming networks and communities.

The new premises will host role-playing sessions including Dungeons and Dragons (DnD), alongside board game and card game sessions, taster evenings and dedicated autistic-friendly and Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (S.E.N.D.) gaming sessions. The shop also stocks paints, model kits, board games, accessories and role-playing guidebooks.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Cllr Bryant said: “I was delighted to be invited to officially open Nat 20 Gaming alongside the Deputy Mayor and it is extremely encouraging to see passionate and enterprising people continuing to invest in Hailsham and establish new businesses within the town centre.”

“Nat 20 Gaming brings something fresh and unique to the area which will appeal to people of all ages and interests. Independent businesses play a vital role in strengthening the local economy and helping to create a welcoming and lively atmosphere within the town centre.”

“What is particularly impressive about Nat 20 Gaming is its strong focus on inclusivity, community engagement and creating opportunities for people to come together socially in a positive and supportive environment. I wish the owners every success for the future and hope the business becomes a valued part of the local community for many years to come.”

Deputy Mayor Cllr Mitchell added: “Hailsham Town Council owns the premises at 1 Market Square and we are very pleased to see the building being occupied once again by a new and innovative local enterprise.”

“It is important that town centre premises remain active and continue to support a thriving business community, and the Council is committed to encouraging investment and entrepreneurship wherever possible. Nat 20 Gaming is a fantastic example of a business bringing new opportunities and new visitors into the town centre, while also creating a welcoming community space for residents.”

“We are delighted to welcome the business to Market Square and wish the team every success as they establish themselves in Hailsham.”
