Hailsham Town Council is pleased to announce its continued support for ‘Stand Proud in Hailsham’, the next event (Stand Proud 3) scheduled to take place at the White Hart in Horsebridge on Saturday 27th June from noon to midnight.
In recognition of Pride Month, the event will celebrate diversity, inclusivity and solidarity with the LGBTQ+ community, and the Town Council has agreed to part-fund the project with a contribution of £1,750.
The event will feature a variety of live entertainment, including performances by rhythm and blues act Moss Casa, acoustic duo The Management, cover band School’s Out, and rock, indie and pop group Nightflame. Fonda Cox, the popular drag performer, will once again take to the stage as the headline act, following a successful appearance at previous events.
Other entertainment will include Awesome Alfie providing children’s activities, as well as Sweet Circus Experience, Name That Tune and Rainbow Bingo with Sam. A selection of bar food will be available courtesy of Sparkles by the Pond, with Char offering face painting services.
In response to the success and high attendance of last year’s event, organisers are encouraging attendees to bring picnic chairs and blankets to ensure ample seating. A watershed will be put in place at 7pm to maintain a safe and enjoyable environment for all attendees.
Mary Laxton, co-organiser of the event, reflected on the success of the previous Stand Proud in Hailsham events: “The positive response to last year’s event was overwhelming, with an average of 300 visitors on site at any given time. The event was truly inclusive, welcoming individuals and families from all backgrounds. We were proud to provide a safe, vibrant space for everyone to enjoy.”
“I am thrilled to once again be part of this important celebration of diversity and equality in Hailsham. I encourage everyone in the town and beyond to mark Saturday 27th June in their calendars and join us for a day filled with entertainment, food, drinks and community spirit.”
Event co-organiser Colin Mitchell also shared his thoughts on the upcoming event: “Stand Proud continues to grow, and it’s heartening to see how the town has embraced the spirit of Pride. This event is not only a celebration but an important reminder of the progress we’ve made towards inclusivity. I am looking forward to seeing the community come together once again to show their support for the LGBTQ+ community next June.”
“By supporting events such as this by way of funding, the Town Council is reaffirming its commitment to being an organisation that celebrates diversity. We look forward to another successful and enjoyable event next summer that brings people together in solidarity with the LGBTQ+ community.”
