Hailsham Town Council’s new online graffiti reporting scheme is already making an impact, helping to tackle vandalism and keep public spaces looking their best.

Launched several weeks ago, the scheme enables people to quickly report graffiti, vandalism or damage to Town Council property via a simple online form. Since its introduction, several reports have been submitted, allowing the Council’s maintenance team to respond swiftly and work to prevent further incidents.

QR code stickers placed on Town Council-maintained property – including bus shelters, noticeboards, play areas and community buildings – make it easy for residents to submit reports directly from their mobile phones while out in the community.

Recent months have seen a rise in graffiti at several sites across Hailsham, most notably at the Tony Tack Memorial Skate Park, as well as on community noticeboards, bus shelters and other public facilities. While the Council’s maintenance team works hard to remove graffiti promptly, each incident diverts valuable time and resources away from other improvement projects.

Tony Lee, Operations & Facilities Manager, said: “The online reporting form has already made a real impact. It’s helping us prioritise and respond more efficiently, and it’s great to see residents working alongside us to protect these shared spaces. Their vigilance really does make a difference.”

“This initiative shows what can be achieved when the Town Council and the community work together. We’ll continue to take a zero-tolerance approach to vandalism, but it’s the partnership with residents that’s helping us keep Hailsham safe, attractive and proud.”

Hailsham Town Council remains committed to working closely with Sussex Police and the wider community to tackle anti-social behaviour and ensure that the town remains a safe, welcoming and vibrant place for all.
