Hailsham Youth Service Continues Autumn Programme of Friday Night Activities

— Youth Services

Hailsham Youth Service is well into its autumn programme of Friday evening activities, with young people in school years 7 to 12 already enjoying a varied schedule of events and experiences running through to Christmas.

The Friday Night Project (FNP), delivered by Hailsham Youth Service with funding from Hailsham Town Council, provides young people with regular opportunities to socialise, participate in new activities and spend time with friends in a safe and supervised environment.

The current programme began in September with a range of activities, including an evening of Laser Tag at Ten Pin Eastbourne, ten-pin bowling at Freedom Leisure, activities at Knockhatch Adventure Park, a roller disco at Eastbourne Roller Disco and a Youth Games Night at the Station Youth Centre.

The programme continues throughout October, November and December, with activities taking place at venues across Hailsham and the surrounding area.

The Friday Night Project is delivered with the support of a number of local organisations and activity providers, including Knockhatch Adventure Park, Hailsham Community College and Freedom Leisure. These partnerships enable the Youth Service to provide young people with a broad and varied programme while keeping activities accessible and affordable for local families.

The autumn schedule includes a mixture of sporting, creative, recreational and social activities, giving young people opportunities to try something different, develop new interests and spend time with friends in a positive setting.

Beyond the individual activities, the Friday Night Project provides young people with opportunities to socialise, develop skills, build confidence and form friendships in a supportive environment.

Kerrie Potter, Youth Work Lead, said: “Autumn for the Friday Night Project marks another season of fun and opportunity for young people in Hailsham. We aim to provide a variety of activities that not only entertain but also encourage confidence, teamwork and new skills. We’re really looking forward to welcoming young people back and seeing them get involved.”

“The Friday Night Project is about much more than just activities – it’s about creating a safe, welcoming space where young people can build friendships, try something new and feel supported by trusted adults. We know how important it is to provide positive outlets outside of school hours, and we are proud to offer a programme that helps young people grow in confidence, resilience and independence while having fun.”

Young people can still register for forthcoming Friday Night Project activities, subject to availability. Families are encouraged to book in advance, particularly where activities have limited capacity.

Bookings can be made through the Hailsham Youth Service online store at https://hailsham-youth-service.sumupstore.com.

The Mayor of Hailsham, Cllr Chris Bryant, commends Hailsham Youth Service for providing young people with ample activities in a safe environment to help keep them occupied when not at school, and for the dedication and enthusiasm of the Town Council’s youth workers:

“Parents can be confident that Hailsham Youth Service provides a safe environment for our local young people, giving them opportunities to socialise and take part in various activities after school and on weekday evenings, including those activities which make up the Friday Night Project programme.”

“For 26 years, Hailsham Youth Service has improved the quality of life for local young people in the town and surrounding rural villages. Such benefits have been achieved through the integrated provision of recreation, in addition to opportunities for personal and social development, information and advice.”
