The Town Council is inviting residents, visitors and shoppers to enjoy the next Hailsham Street Market on Friday 28 August, as the popular monthly event returns to Vicarage Field for another day of local shopping and community activity.
Taking place from 9.30am to 1.30pm, the market will bring together a wide variety of independent traders, small businesses, local producers and creative makers, offering visitors the opportunity to discover something new while supporting local enterprise.
From freshly prepared and artisan foods to handmade gifts, jewellery, clothing, flowers, homeware, crafts and other locally produced items, there will be plenty to browse and enjoy throughout the morning.

Following a number of trial markets at Blackman’s Yard, the Town Council reviewed feedback from traders and members of the public before deciding that Vicarage Field was the preferred location for the regular event. The market has now established itself as a monthly feature of the town centre, taking place on the last Friday of each month during the March to September market season.
Tony Lee, Operations and Facilities Manager at Hailsham Town Council, said: “The Street Market has become an important part of Hailsham’s monthly calendar, and Vicarage Field provides an excellent setting for traders and visitors alike. It is great to see such strong interest from stallholders, which demonstrates the demand for a regular market in the town.”
“Markets provide an opportunity to discover independent businesses and locally made products that visitors may not find elsewhere. We look forward to welcoming people to Vicarage Field on 28 August and hope they enjoy the range of stalls on offer.”
Councillor Anne Marie Ricketts, Chair of the Town Council’s Communities Committee, said: “The Street Market is a wonderful way of bringing additional energy and activity into the town centre. It provides a platform for small businesses and independent traders while giving residents and visitors another reason to spend time in Hailsham.”
“The continued interest from traders is particularly positive, and we are pleased that so many pitches have already been taken for this season. We would encourage everyone to come along, have a look around and support the businesses and makers who help make our local market such a vibrant event.”
The monthly market forms part of the Town Council’s wider efforts to encourage local shopping, support independent businesses and contribute to the vitality of Hailsham town centre. By attracting visitors and providing opportunities for local traders to showcase their products, the event also complements the existing businesses operating in the High Street and surrounding areas.
Although the current market season runs through to September, traders interested in taking part in future events are encouraged to register their interest early, as demand for pitches continues to be strong.
