The countdown is on to the Celebrating Hailsham Day event which takes place in the town centre on Saturday 24th June, set to bring energy and a summer feel to the town centre.
Celebrating the completion of the majority of the Hailsham town centre road improvement works, further preparations for the event have been made by the Town Council’s Communities Committee in partnership with Hailsham Forward and local businesses, and organisers are confident that it will be a great family event offering something for everyone.
Celebrating Hailsham Day will take place in Vicarage Field and the High Street and feature market stalls selling a range of locally sourced food, gifts and accessories.
There will also be a candy floss stall to tempt visitors, as well as the local air cadets selling strawberries, cakes and Prosecco and the Sussex Community Development Association (SCDA) with their smoothie bike.
Various activities will take place on the day for children including face painting, balloon modelling, a tea cup ride and sensory tent. Hailsham FM will be in attendance at the event.
Organisers are pleased to be working with the town centre shops on the event, many of which will be offering discounts off their goods and special promotions on the day.
Deputy Town Mayor and chairman of the Communities Committee Councillor Amanda O’Rawe said: “Summer is set to be an exciting time for Hailsham and I’m delighted to be part of organising the forthcoming Celebrating Hailsham Day, which I’m confident will support our community in all the wonderful things they are doing locally as well as celebrate the completion of the majority of the town centre roadworks in style.”
“There will be a range of stalls from local and regional traders selling high quality products, as well as some fun activities for children and refreshments available throughout the day,” said Deputy Town Clerk & Business Enterprise Manager Mickey Caira.
“The Town Council continues to work hard with Hailsham Forward and other project partners to make the necessary preparations for our town events and is grateful to everyone for their support. I hope that as many people as possible will come along to the Celebrating Hailsham Day event and help support our local community.”
Hailsham Town Council and Hailsham Forward are also organising a Summer Food & Drink Market which will take place in the town centre on Saturday 29th July and feature an array of food and drink traders selling cheeses, meats, pastries, fruit, vegetables, speciality foods and much more.
Full details of the Summer Food & Drink Market, including times and scheduled activities, will be announced in the near future.
