Hundreds of people attended a special Vintage Market event in the town centre, organised by Hailsham Town Council in partnership with Hailsham Forward on Saturday [25 July].
Vicarage Field and Hailsham High Street were home to market stalls selling a range of food and gifts from local traders as well as a tea party stand and hog roast.
The event featured live entertainment acts including musical performances from The Memphis Flyers and Swingtime Sweethearts during the afternoon and the Peter Wilson (Jazz) Quartet was also a highlight and proved to be a major attraction for families.
There was also street dancing to keep passers by entertained, vintage cars on display including a classic Bentley, vintage popcorn machine and Hailsham Festival FM broadcast the event throughout
Deputy Town Mayor and Chairman of the Town Council’s Communities Committee Councillor Amanda O’Rawe, who attended the event, said: “The market had a wonderful atmosphere with some amazing stalls selling good quality items. In addition to this, there was some lovely music provided by a variety of music acts appealing to people of all ages.”
Councillor Chriss Triandafyllou, Vice-Chairman of the Communities Committee said: “Our themed market events held in the town centre this summer have proved to be a massive success so far with hundreds from Hailsham and surrounding areas attending.”
“There was a really good atmosphere at the Vintage Market on Saturday and, with great feedback from both businesses who took part and shoppers, we’ll definitely be organising more themed markets in the future.”
“The Town Council and Hailsham Forward are making final preparations for the forthcoming Summer Themed Market and already putting plans together for this year’s Christmas Market.”
The Hailsham Summer Market will take place in the town centre on Saturday 29th August. For further details on the event contact Karen Giddings on 01323 841702 or send an email to karen.giddings@hailsham-tc.gov.uk.
