Business, Town Revitalisation

Hailsham Forward Stakeholder Group AGM April 2017

Local councillors, businesses, community groups and other key stakeholders came together for Hailsham Forward’s Annual General Meeting, which was held at Diplocks Hall this morning [28 April].

The ongoing town centre improvement scheme and roadworks, Hailsham Street Market and recent shopfront renovations were just a few of the things discussed by the Hailsham Forward Town Team at the AGM, which aims to bring together key local stakeholders including Hailsham Town Council to review the best ways to revitalise the town centre and surrounding urban environment.

Among the attendees were local councillors, as well as representatives of business associations, economic development officers and other stakeholders.

Updates were provided on the transport improvement scheme developed for Hailsham town centre by East Sussex County Council in partnership with Wealden District Council, which will be completed in the coming weeks.

Also discussed was the expansion of the Hailsham Loyalty Card Scheme for shoppers and business, and the organisation of community events scheduled for the summer and Christmas periods.

“What the Hailsham Forward Town Team needs to do now is to build on its successes to date and continue to make a real difference to our town,” said Mickey Caira, Deputy Town Clerk & Business Enterprise Manager.

“Hailsham is very lucky to have the Town Council, as well as committed local residents and businesses which are prepared to give up their time to make Hailsham Forward work and bring its goals and aspirations into fruition.”

Town Mayor and Chairman of the Hailsham Forward Stakeholder Group, Councillor Nigel Coltman, commented: “The Hailsham Forward Executive Team continue to meet monthly to progress the projects detailed in the Plan for Hailsham.”

“The Team’s various projects make an important contribution to the improvement of the local economy and will ultimately help revitalise the town centre and surrounding urban environment in the long term.”

“We’ll continue to take on board the views of stakeholders while we work on various revitalisation projects – short and long term – and we will endeavor to keep the local community informed of any updates at all times.”
