Town Team Discusses Key Projects at Meeting

Business, Shopping & Retail, Town Revitalisation

Hailsham Forward Stakeholder Group meeting October 2017

Local businesses, community groups and other key members came together for Hailsham Forward’s latest stakeholder group meeting, which was held at Diplocks Hall this morning [13 October].

The recent renovation of shopfronts and increased membership of the Hailsham Loyalty Card for shoppers were just a few of the items discussed by the ‘Town Team’, which aims to bring together key local stakeholders including Hailsham Town Council to review the best ways to revitalise the town centre and surrounding urban environment.

At the meeting, members agreed to the formation of a Community Interest Company (CiC – a special type of limited company which exists to benefit the community), which will help to create more potential funding opportunities for Hailsham Forward in the future and carry other financial benefits for the Partnership.

The Hailsham Forward Executive Team will submit its Memorandum of Association to the CiC Regulator in the coming weeks.

Deputy Town Clerk and Business Enterprise Manager Mickey Caira commented: “By going down the Community Interest Company route, Hailsham Forward may benefit from a higher profile and be eligible for additional funding for various projects which are in the interest of residents and local businesses.”

“Hailsham Forward will continue to work hard for the Hailsham community, developing initiatives which will enhance the local economy and attract inward investment into the town.”

“We will continue to build on our successes to date and are dedicated to improving the town’s economic and social worth through the Partnership,” said Town Mayor Councillor Nigel Coltman, who is chairman of the current Hailsham Forward Stakeholder Group.

“The Partnership’s various projects make an important contribution to the improvement of the local economy and, aided by the formation of a Community Interest Company soon, will ultimately help revitalise the town centre and surrounding urban environment, as well as offering more retail choice in the long term.”
