Town Team Discusses Key Projects at Meeting

Town Revitalisation

Hailsham Forward Stakeholder Group meeting October 2018

Local businesses, community groups and other key members came together for Hailsham Forward’s latest stakeholder group meeting, which was held at Diplocks Hall this morning [19 October].

The recent town centre shopfront improvements, support for Hailsham’s industrial parks, and this year’s summer and Christmas town events were just a few of the things discussed by the Hailsham Forward Town Team, which aims to bring together key local stakeholders including Hailsham Town Council to review the best ways to revitalise the town centre and surrounding urban environment.

Updates were provided on the expansion of the Hailsham Loyalty Card Scheme for shoppers and businesses and the Hailsham Community Forum which has also continued to grow with new members attending.

Also discussed was suggestions for future Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) spending on town revitalisation projects, and the recent opening of new businesses in the town centre, which now has the lowest recorded number of empty retail units since 2006.

Town councillor and Chairman of the Hailsham Forward Stakeholder Group Gavin Blake-Coggins, summed up the meeting: “My fellow Town Team members and I are delighted to be working closely with local councils, businesses and community groups on a range of projects for our town.”

“We’re very lucky to have these stakeholders on board, all of whom are prepared to work hard and give up their time to develop Hailsham Forward’s ideas and proposals further.”

Deputy Town Clerk and Business Enterprise Manager Mickey Caira commented: “The Hailsham Forward Stakeholder Group and Executive Team continue to meet on a regular basis to progress various projects, projects which make an important contribution to the improvement of the local economy – ultimately helping to revitalise the town centre and surrounding urban environment in the long term.”

“We’ll continue to take on board the views of stakeholders while we work on these projects and keep the local community informed of any updates at all times.”
