Local councillors, businesses, community groups and other key stakeholders came together for Hailsham Forward’s latest stakeholder group meeting, which was held at Diplocks Hall this morning [5 February].
Forthcoming town centre improvements, the renovation of shop fronts and reconnecting the town through organising a series of business and community forums were just a few of the things discussed by the Town Team, which aims to bring together key local stakeholders including Hailsham Town Council to review the best ways to revitalise the town centre and surrounding urban environment in the coming years.
Among the attendees were local councillors including the Town Mayor, as well as representatives from business associations, economic development managers and other stakeholders.
Updates were provided on the latest work carried out by Hailsham Forward including the expansion of the Hailsham Town & Shopping Guide, the success of the Hailsham Street Market to date and the possibility of a town centre re-launch event once the works to improve the High Street are complete later this year.
Also discussed was the introduction of a Hailsham Loyalty Card Scheme which will be set up soon to promote local businesses to the public and offer discounts and limited offers to cardholders.
“The ‘Town Team’ is a partnership involving representatives from many sectors of the local community,” said Rob Slater, Chairman of the Hailsham Forward Executive. “All our project partners have a common goal – working to put town revitalisation plans and proposals into action.”
“We’ll continue to listen to the views of stakeholders while we work on various revitalisation projects, keeping the local community informed at all times during the process.”
Town Mayor and Chairman of the Hailsham Forward Stakeholder Group, Councillor Nigel Coltman, commented: “Hailsham is fortunate to have such strong partnership of the Town Council, local residents, and businesses, giving up time to help make the goals and aspirations of Hailsham Forward a reality.”
