Hailsham Choral Society

The Mayor of Hailsham will join in the celebrations of the Hailsham Choral Society’s 60th Anniversary concert, ‘Messiah’, which will be held at All Saints Church in Eastbourne on Saturday 26th March at 7.30pm.

The concert will feature a wide-ranging programme including a performance of G.F. Handel’s Messiah with orchestra and professional soloists, and the programme will be conducted by Josik Kotz, with soloists Helen Bailey (Soprano), Rebecca Hughes (Mezzo), Andrew Wicks (Tenor) and Greg Skidmore (Baritone).

There will be a retiring collection for the British Red Cross in aid of the victims of the war in Ukraine.

“I’ve heard all manner of positive things about Hailsham Choral Society’s concerts, and the choir group has a tradition of selecting and recruiting first-rate choristers,” said Town Mayor Councillor Paul Holbrook, delighted to be invited to attend the concert. “It’s wonderful to have already attended many of their concerts, all with full or near-capacity audiences, listening live to the wonderful music and singing performed by the soloists and accompanists.”

“The Society’s concerts are always enjoyable and well-constructed with uplifting performances, and the enthusiastic and well deserved applauses from the audiences witnessed at the concerts I’ve attended prove that people experienced most moving and enjoyable evenings of music!”

“I’m very grateful to the Society for staging such amazing concerts and I look forward to a superb evening of entertainment for us all on 26th March.”

Tickets cost £10 for adults and £5 for under 18s. Tickets are available from Ashley Adams Jewellers (Hailsham High Street), the Eastbourne Tourist Office, via wegottickets.com and on the door.

Hailsham Choral Society is a choir of around 60 singers based locally, performing in at least four main concerts during the year, with programmes featuring anything from Bach (Christmas Oratorio, St. John Passion) to Beatles, Rossini (Petite Messe Solennelle) to Gershwin, Rutter (Requiem, Magnificat, carols) to Rogers and Hart
