Hailsham Town Council has launched www.hailshamstreetmarket.org, a website devoted to providing information on the Hailsham Street Market which takes place every Saturday in Vicarage Field from 8.30am to 3pm, as well as special and seasonal market events, including the summer and Christmas markets.
The new website provides information on how to hire a stall and become a trader at the weekly street market, downloadable trader applications forms, updates on special market events and details about selected traders, their products available and how to contact them direct.
“This new website is a one-stop shop for information on the weekly street market and it is great news that Hailsham Street Market now has its own dedicated online home,” said Deputy Town Clerk & Business Enterprise Manager Mickey Caira.
“The website will also allow people to engage with the traders themselves and their businesses directly. Information on additional market traders will be posted on the website in the coming weeks.”
Hailsham Street Market was launched by Hailsham Forward in August 2013, establishing a diverse outdoor market for the sale of locally sourced food, gifts, accessories and speciality goods. Since the establishment of the market, the shopping experience for residents and visitors in the town centre has been enhanced, while complementing the regular farmers’ market operating in the town every second Saturday of the month.
Hailsham Town Council agreed in April 2018 to take over the management and day-to-day running of the street market from Hailsham Forward, allowing the partnership to focus on the delivery of other town revitalisation projects.
“Regular markets are a vital component of town centres – especially in market towns such as Hailsham – bringing customers into the town whilst offering excellent business opportunities to local traders,” added Mr Caira.
“By supporting local producers, growers, suppliers and offering them the opportunity to sell locally, Hailsham Street Market is an ideal way of showcasing the diverse range of products available in Hailsham and neighbouring villages.”
