Hailsham’s Square Youth Café is pleased to announce the launch of its revamped website at www.squareyouthcafe.com.

The youth centre located at 1 Market Square, funded and managed by Hailsham Town Council, has improved its existing website through which young people and parents in Hailsham and surrounding areas can find out more about scheduled activities at the centre, news updates, forthcoming events, video and photo galleries and more.

The new website also includes information on the support services available at Info-Point (located next to the Square Youth Café), including the Sexual Health drop-in facility which operates on weekdays from 7pm-9pm.

Youth Project Co-ordinator Andy Joyes commented: “We are keen to give young people in Hailsham facilities that they want and will find useful in the long term. The new website will enable us to keep young people and parents updated with all upcoming youth projects and any new services provided.”

He added: “We are excited by the possibilities that this website will bring in the future.  That is why we would be grateful for any comments or suggestions you may have on the existing website, as we want to make it as fun and informative as possible.”

Afternoon sessions at the Square Youth Café take place on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays, from 3.15pm to 5pm. The Square Youth Cafe evening sessions are also free to enter, cater for young people aged 13 to 17 and take place Monday to Friday from 6.45pm to 9pm.

The Square Youth Café team organises a varied line-up of low-cost outings designed to liven up the school holidays, as well as free activities at the centre including cookery sessions, crafts, pool and more.

Additionally, a variety of outings are organised by Square Youth Café staff as part of the Friday Night Project throughout the year, including trips to Thorpe Park, open ski, skiing lessons and Ringo tobogganing at Knockhatch Ski Centre, go-karting, giant pillows and soft-play at Knockhatch Adventure Park, as well as ten-pin bowling at Freedom Leisure, trampolining at Urban Jump and much more.

Town Mayor Councillor Nigel Coltman commented: “Parents can be confident that the Square Youth Café provides a safe environment for our local young people, giving them a place to socialise in the evenings and during school holidays by organising trips away and various other leisure activities.

“The youth project team has established a successful and ongoing service for young people in the Hailsham area since its launch eighteen years ago and I’m extremely proud of what has been achieved to date.”
