Restyle of Town Council’s Newsletter to Residents

Hailsham Town Council is to revamp the newsletter which it uses to communicate with local residents and community organisations.

To be re-launched in February under the name Our Hailsham, the new and improved newsletter will focus on articles of interest to residents, including information on the Town Council’s activities, service updates, news stories accompanied by photographs, consultation results, forthcoming community projects and events, and councillor contact details.

The new 12-page, A5 full-colour publication, will be hand-delivered to approximately 12,000 households in Hailsham three times a year (February, June and October).

The newsletter may also include surveys in future editions inviting residents to express their views on key issues affecting them, and encourage residents to get more involved in the Town Council’s current and future activities within the parish.

Town councillor Paul Soane, chairman of the Strategic Projects Committee said: “Our newsletter is a valuable way of reaching local residents to advise them on how the Town Council is performing, as well as providing useful information on the Council’s services, future community projects and what is happening in the town.”

“We hope that the new format will be easier to read, as we will be improving the print to make text slightly larger which should help those residents with visual impairments. Hopefully, this will make it more informative for those who read it.”

Town Clerk John Harrison commented: “The new format and arrangements will help considerably towards the aim of improved communication between residents, businesses and the Town Council. We hope you will continue to enjoy reading the newsletter and we always welcome your views on the format for future editions.”
