The countdown is on to Hailsham’s Children’s Theme Market which takes place on Saturday 27 June from 9.30am, set to bring energy to Vicarage Field and the High Street.

Final preparations for the event have been made by the Town Council’s Festivities & Events Committee – in partnership with Hailsham Forward and Hailsham Community College Academy Trust – and organisers are confident that it will be a great family event offering something for everyone.

The Children’s Themed Market will feature stalls selling a wide range of fine food, gifts, jewellery and accessories from local traders, as well as items of interest to children including toys, crafts, confectionery and much more.

There will be live entertainment throughout the day with the South of Saturn Band performing and the Hailsham Parish Church Youth Band.

It is hoped that the ATC 249 Hailsham Millennium Squadron air cadets will provide a climbing wall in Vicarage Field and there will be other family activities available throughout the day including a Camel Rodeo from 11am to 4pm and Hailsham FM will also be attending the event.

Councillor Chriss Triandafyllou said:

“There will be a wide range of goods on offer at the Children’s Market and an array of live musical performances from local young people to appeal to the whole family.”

“Providing street markets, both regular and special themed ones such as the Children’s Market, is very important for the town. We hope to attract a lot of people and give them another opportunity to pick up some one-off finds and excellent products, enjoying a distinctive and vibrant atmosphere in the town centre and support our community in all the wonderful things being done locally.”

Councillor Amanda O’Rawe said:

“It takes a lot of planning and effort to ensure that everything goes smoothly on the day at events such as these.”

“Our committee has worked hard with other organisers in recent months to make the necessary preparations for the Children’s Market and is grateful to local traders, community groups and entertainment providers for supporting us by taking part in the event.”

The Town Council is currently organising two additional themed markets for Saturday 25 July and Saturday 29 August, taking on a vintage and international theme respectively. Further details on each event will be announced in the coming weeks.
