The countdown is on to Hailsham’s Summer Street Market which takes place in the town centre on Saturday 29th August from 9.30am until 4pm.
The Town Council’s Communities Committee has been working hard in partnership with Hailsham Forward and organisers are confident that it will be a great family event offering something for everyone.
The Summer Market will feature stalls selling a wide range of fine food and gifts, as well as quality French produce sold by visitors from Hailsham’s twin town, Gournay-en-Bray.
The Hailsham & District Twinning Association will provide an information stall on the day for those who may be interested in its activities and benefiting from becoming a member of the group and Hailsham Festival FM will be broadcasting live.
There will also be a hog roast, outdoor bar and seating, and a stall selling quality wines and beers. Historic Hailsham Parish Church will be open to welcome visitors from 10am to midday.
Deputy Town Mayor and Chairman of the Communities Committee Councillor Amanda O’Rawe said: “The regular street market will be back on Vicarage Field and will feature an array of stalls selling quality food, crafts and many other delights, bringing something a little extra into the town and celebrating the height of summer.”
“Whether you’re on the hunt for a delicious bite to eat, a tasty tipple or two or looking for somewhere to while away a few hours in the sun, the Summer Market is guaranteed to appeal to the whole family.”
“I’m proud to have been part of its planning and organisation and would like to take this opportunity to extend my thanks to the hard work and dedication of Town Council staff and members of Hailsham Forward to date.”
Councillor Chriss Triandafyllou, Vice-Chairman of the Communities Committee said: “Hopefully, the sun will have his hat on for the Hailsham Summer Street Market on 29th August and, after the success of the Children’s and Vintage Themed Markets held in June and July respectively, this particular market is another event not to be missed.”
The Town Council has already started organising this year’s festive lights switch-on event and Hailsham Christmas Market which will take place in Vicarage Field on Saturday 21st November and Saturday 5th December respectively. Further details of this event will be announced later this year.
