Fledgling retailers and entrepreneurs can get ready for success in Hailsham town centre with help from the local Chamber of Commerce and its new pop-up shop, which will be ready for businesses to move in to later this month.
The pop-up shop project, run by Hailsham & District Chamber of Commerce and supported by the Hailsham Forward Town Team, is aimed at new businesses or those without a physical presence in the town centre that would like the chance to experience what it takes to become a successful retailer.
Located in the former Cellular mobile phone shop at 41 High Street, the new pop-up shop is scheduled to open on Monday 27th March.
The ground floor retail unit has an area of 348 square feet, includes a WC with wash hand basin and is available to hirers for £100 per week (inclusive of utilities).
With below market all-inclusive rent and no lengthy contracts, the pop-up shop provides an ideal opportunity for start-ups or businesses based online or outside of the town centre to test the water before committing to a more permanent high street presence.
“Local businesses have the opportunity to establish an affordable high street presence and the new pop-up is an opportunity not to be missed,” said Petrina Mayson, chairman of Hailsham & District Chamber of Commerce. “Pop-up shops have become increasingly popular in recent years and it is great that Hailsham is part of this.”
“Our aim is to help local businesses grow by providing them with a suitable retail space to showcase their new products, sell their online homemade goods or look to trial a shopfront and increase exposure, on a short-term basis and at a fraction of the normal rent.”
“The level of interest in people renting the pop-up shop has been building in recent weeks and I would encourage business operators to contact the Chamber of Commerce today to find put more about this amazing opportunity.”
Deputy Town Clerk & Business Enterprise Manager Mickey Caira said, “Providing short-term accommodation for small businesses is the way forward for the town centre and is an ideal way to give entrepreneurs the encouragement to possibly take on their own premises in the future.”
“This pop-up shop, due to open in the High Street soon, has already gained a lot of interest as local businesses look to taking up the exciting opportunity to inject variety and interest to local retail, which in turn encourages footfall and goes some way towards revitalising the town centre.”
Details of how small business owners – or prospective businesses wishing to trial operating in a retail environment – can rent the pop-up shop are available through the Hailsham & District Chamber of Commerce.
