A message from Mickey Caira, Deputy Town Clerk & Business Enterprise Manager:
“Hailsham has everything you need for a fantastic Christmas. We have a wonderful range of shops and I would like to encourage everyone to spend locally and support our own traders as much as possible. Visitors from outside Hailsham are also encouraged to shop here and are welcome!
Hailsham has a great selection of independent and High Street retailers who can help make Christmas 2016 perfect for you. It’s perfectly feasible to do all your Christmas shopping in a town like Hailsham.
We’re spoilt for choice in the town centre — whether having a bite to eat at Callenders Restaurant, Homely Maid, Ribs & Co or Bebble’s Langos, or for a festive drink at Chapter 12 Wine Bar or The Grenadier.
You can buy Christmas gifts from such great shops as Millie’s and MsMatch for accessories and clothing, Little Pickles for babywear and presents for your little ones, or Elderflower Interiors — recently opened in Hailsham — which has a lovely selection of unique items and gifts for the home.
Our town centre florists will have Christmas wreaths to decorate your front door or dining room table. And many local hair and beauty salons have special Christmas offers available, so why not treat someone you love to a bit of pampering!
Don’t forget there are also many shops in Hailsham selling a large range of Christmas cards and wrapping paper — from charity shops to Special Occasions in the High Street.
Free parking is widely available in and within close proximity to the town centre.
Christmas is a magical time of year in Hailsham and huge crowds are expected on Saturday 3rd December with our Christmas Extravaganza event, which takes place in Vicarage Field and the High Street from 9am to 4pm.
At the Christmas Extravaganza, you will see a number of stalls selling fine food, Christmas gifts, decorations, cards, cakes, jewellery and many other items. Various festive refreshments will be on sale to tempt visitors.
There will be festive entertainment throughout the day for all the family to enjoy, including carol singing and organisers are delighted to announce that there will be a giant snow globe for families to have their photos taken in, and it is expected that this will be a major attraction for children and families on the day!
There will also be balloon modelling, face painting, gingerbread decorating and Santa & his Sleigh (provided by Hailsham Rotary Club) will be attending the event to hand out free presents to children, supplied by the Town Council with a donation from Tesco.
From shopping to eating and from activities to festive entertainment, there really is something for everyone to experience in Hailsham during the festive period!
