Members and staff at Hailsham Town Council wish a Happy New Year and safe, healthy and positive 2022 to all residents.

In light of the latest government guidelines concerning Covid-19 and the spread of the Omicron variant, a few changes to Town Council services have been put in place to help ensure the safety of residents and staff.

Whilst most services and facilities run by the Town Council are up and running, some remain accessible but with restrictions in place. Please note that the public will be updated as soon as any further changes are proposed.

Closure of Town Council offices to the public

Due to current Covid-19 case numbers, the Town Council Offices and reception area in Market Street are currently closed to the public until further notice.

Hailsham Town Council is continuing to support the community during the pandemic and, although the reception in Market Street is closed, staff will continue to work remotely to keep services running and the main phone line will be open during office current hours (10am-3pm, Monday to Friday – except public holidays).

Members of the public are encouraged to follow the Town Council’s social media pages in the meantime and keep updated via the following website: https://www.hailsham-tc.gov.uk/.

The Town Council can be contacted still on 01323 841702 during office hours and by email: enquiries@hailsham-tc.gov.uk.

Town Clerk John Harrison said: “In light of the latest Government advice, the rapid increase in Covid-19 case numbers and the risks posed by the new Omicron variant, the Town Council has announced that by far the safest option for residents is to temporarily stop public access to our reception and offices.”

“Add to that the safety of our staff which is of equal importance – and our obligation to follow the latest advice which currently recommends that people work from home where possible.”
