Hailsham’s town centre post office, which opened its doors in July 2019, has received further positive feedback from residents, this time in response to a recent social media post published on a local community Facebook page.
The Hailsham community has reacted in an appreciative manner, praising staff for their excellent customer service and the post office’s willingess to remain open in recent months, despite the ongoing coronavirus pandemic:
“As it’s a local post office in a town I’ve loved my whole life, you get to know the staff. They are always friendly and willing to help, especially after the recent relocation of premises.”
“Despite the current situation we find ourselves in, the staff are friendly and helpful. They are happy to provide the service and info we need. They are handling the social distancing well and not really letting it effect what they are doing.”
“Staff are doing their best under difficult circumstances. Always helpful polite and friendly.”

“The staff at the Hailsham post office always go out of their way to help you, are friendly and know their stuff!”
“I didn’t have to queue, only one person in front of me and I got my parcel sent and one returned quickly and easily.”

Positive feedback was also generated for the sub post office located in Hawkswood Road in north Hailsham.
“I’m delighted that the public have commended the Town Council’s post office staff and are appreciative of our efforts to keep the post office open during the pandemic as an essential community facility,” said Hailsham Mayor and Chairman of the Town Council, Councillor Paul Holbrook.
Town Clerk and Postmaster of the high street post office, John Harrison commented: “The post office service is going really well since it re-opened last summer and people still praise the Town Council one year on for taking over the franchise and saving the community facility, and secondly, for remaining open during this difficult time.”
Post office manager Christine Holversen said: “I’m happy that the post office remains open during the coronavirus crisis and that staff are able to assist with essential post office services.”
“Unfortunately, I ‘m currently not serving at the post office for the duration of the pandemic as I’m classed as vulnerable to the virus. However, I look forward to seeing our customers again soon hopefully!”
Until further notice, the post office is open from 10am-4pm Monday to Friday and is temporarily closed on Saturdays.
