The Hailsham Lions Club is promising a day of fun and entertainment for all on Sunday 7th July at the Western Road Recreation Ground.
The Mayor and Deputy Mayor of Hailsham, Councillors Paul Holbrook and Amanda O’Rawe, will be starting off the proceedings at 11am for the Hailsham Lions’ biggest fundraising event of the year, the Family Fun Day, and will officially open the ‘arena’ with a few words.
The event, organised in partnership with Hailsham Active (formerly Hailsham & District Sports Alliance) and sponsored by Hailsham Town Council, is free to enter and will feature many attractions, sports activities and games for both children and adults, plus there will be a rock choir, fairground rides and a selection of stalls to tempt visitors.
Additional highlights of the event include Punch & Judy, Maria Williams’ Fun Dog Show, hot and cold refreshments and a barbecue.
Looking forward to opening the Family Fun Day, Mayor Councillor Paul Holbrook said: “The Western Road Recreation Ground provides the perfect backdrop for this quintessential annual summer extravaganza, so ably organised by Hailsham Lions’ Club and its partners. Organisers have really got something for everyone this year; great entertainment, incredible prizes to be won, food, games, and a huge range of stalls.”
“As in previous years, proceeds from the Family Fun Day will be donated to worthwhile charities, so come along and enjoy a great day out while supporting a good cause!”
“I am delighted to have been asked to open this important event alongside the Deputy Mayor and look forward to working with the Hailsham Lions’ Club well into the future.”
Since their establishment in 1970, Hailsham Lions Club members have worked on a variety of fundraising projects and events in the local community, donating all proceeds to local good causes. The group was chartered in September 1970 with the principal aim to help less fortunate people locally and regionally.
Over the past 40+ years, the group has raised vital funds for various local groups including Friends of Eastbourne Hospital, East Sussex Air Ambulance and Hailsham Gingerbread, as well as national and international causes such as the Tsunami Appeal, the Haiti Appeal and the Royal British Legion Wings Appeal.
The Club members meet every first Tuesday of the month at the Charles Hunt Centre, in the heart of the town, at 7.30pm. New members are always welcome.
