The Mayor of Hailsham will be getting into the spirit of summer when he joins in the celebrations of the Hailsham Choral Society’s annual Summer Concert, an afternoon of musical miscellany at the Hailsham Civic Community Hall in Vicarage Lane on Sunday 28th June at 3pm.
The Summer concert this year will feature Rutter’s The Sprig of Thyme and Michael Tippet’s Five Spirituals. Josik Kotz and Barbara Edwards will be sharing the conducting and the concert will be followed by tea and cake. Everyone is welcome to attend.
Looking forward to the event, Town Mayor Councillor Nigel Coltman said:
“As usual, Hailsham Choral Society has assembled a distinguished line up of singers and instrumentalists for their annual summer show.
I have been impressed by the Society’s first-rate performances in the past, which have been provided for the enjoyment of the local community, whilst bringing prestige to Hailsham and attracting some listeners from nearby towns.
Guaranteed to delight the entire family, this particular concert will be an afternoon to remember. Therefore, I’d strongly recommend people considering attending to book their seats as early as possible.”
Simon Marsden, chairman of the Hailsham Choral Society said:
“We very much look forward to welcoming the Mayor and our audience to our summer concert. Our programme called ‘Songs of the People’ includes a collection of folk songs set by John Rutter.
There are some tunes I’d never heard before which are so beautiful I think ‘Why doesn’t everyone know this?’ We hope the audience will really enjoy the afternoon.”
Admission is £10 (£5 for under 16) and tickets are available at the Hailsham Camera Centre, from members of the choir or by calling 01323 870515.
