The Town Mayor and Deputy Mayor Councillors Nigel Coltman and Amanda O’Rawe were among the many local people who attended Saturday’s Hailsham Farmers’ Market, at which they drew the prize tickets to shoppers.
A highlight of August’s Farmers’ Market event, prizes given to lucky winners who took part in the draw included meal vouchers, courtesy of Ribs & Co and Scolfe’s Tea Shoppe, with a selection of stallholder produce for the first prize recipient.
The market featured a wide selection of quality local food produce including fresh meat, fish and seafood, homemade cakes and new season honey, as well as ornamental plants, herbs, wooden garden planters and handmade cards.
“Over the years, thousands of people including residents and visitors to the town have enjoyed the best local, regional and seasonal produce at the market,” said Councillor Nigel Coltman.
“Farmers’ markets in general remain popular to this day, as not only do they provide the opportunity for people to purchase fresh produce direct from source, but they also build a great ambience and provide an enjoyable shopping experience for everyone. Hailsham Farmers’ Market is no exception to this!”
Councillor Amanda O’Rawe commented: “I’m proud to have been asked to draw the winning prize draw ticket on Saturday alongside the Mayor and would like to extend my thanks to local producers for all their hard work and dedication. Their enthusiasm has helped to establish Hailsham Farmers’ Market as a popular destination in the southeast region.”
“This market clearly adds to the vitality of Hailsham as a market town and gives people the opportunity to support our local farmers by purchasing locally sourced food, crafts and other products.”
