Hailsham Town Council invites local residents to attend this year’s Annual Town Meeting which takes place at the Civic Community Hall in Vicarage Lane on Tuesday 19th April.

The main part of the meeting will start at 7.30pm, including a presentation and review of the past year by the Town Mayor and Chairman, Councillor Nigel Coltman.

Prior to the main residents’ meeting there will be an opportunity for you to view information stands from local groups and talk to representatives of those organisations from 6.30pm to 7.30pm.

At the annual town meeting, the Town Mayor will also be presenting the 2016 Hailsham Hero award in the form of a cup. This is the first in what is hoped will be an annual award to someone who has served the Hailsham community. The person was chosen by a committee made up of the Mayor, town councillors and members of the public, from nominations submitted by residents of Hailsham.

“Hailsham Town Council has a statutory responsibility to inform residents of the work undertaken by the Town Council and its achievements during the past twelve months via an Annual Town Meeting,” said Town Clerk John Harrison.

“The meeting is a chance for residents to meet with councillors and raise any issues, no matter how large or small. And by working together we can hopefully resolve them and help make Hailsham an even better place to live, work and visit.”

Encouraging residents to attend the Annual Town Meeting, Town Mayor and Chairman of Hailsham Town Council Nigel Coltman said: “The Annual Town Meeting gives you the public an opportunity to put forward your views on what you like and dislike about the town as well as to put forward ideas on things that could be done to improve the town for everyone.”

“I consider the meeting highly important because we receive the input of local residents and organisations and stress that this is your meeting, at which your needs and concerns are addressed. Please do come along and make your comments and suggestions. Your town councillors will be there to listen and help.”

If members of the public wish to submit a question in advance, please advise the Town Clerk in writing (Town Council Offices, Market Street, Hailsham, BN27 2AE) or email john.harrison@hailsham-tc.gov.uk by no later than Monday 12th April 2016.
