Hailsham Youth Service continues to offer various activity sessions for young people throughout the summer months, and in line with the latest social distancing guidance.
Hailsham Youth Service, which provides activities, support services and opportunities for young people in the local area, operates the Square Youth Cafe, Hellingly Youth Hub, Monday Youth Hub and Safehub sessions on weekdays, opening times and details of which are available on their website and updated on a regular basis: hailshamyouthservice.org
“Over the last couple of months, we’ve been looking closely at COVID-19 guidance from both the National Youth Agency and the Government for the reopening of our youth facilities, to make sure we can make it the safest environment possible for young people and youth workers,” said Helen Deane, Deputy Youth Project Coordinator at Hailsham Town Council.
“The Square Youth Cafe, Hellingly Youth Hub and Monday Youth Hub look and feel considerably different at present for those attending and there are strict measures in place to ensure that the required social distancing and hygiene measures are practised at all times.”
“Having said that, it’s been good for the youth worker team to be able to see everyone again since reopening in the spring, and we will endeavour to provide as many fun activities as possible in the coming summer months whilst operating under these measures.”
To maximise the opportunity for young people to join them, the Square Youth Cafe in Market Square currently runs multiple sessions on weekday afternoons and evenings:
The Monday Youth Hub sessions take place at the James West Community Centre on Monday evenings:
The new Hellingly Youth Hub takes place at the Hellingly Community Hub on Wednesday evenings:
A restriction on the number of young people allowed at activity sessions/venues at any one time is currently in place, and everyone who enters the premises must wear a face covering at all times.
Additionally, in order to attend a session (as with all Hailsham Youth Service activities for the foreseeable future), registration will need to be completed online on the Hailsham Youth Service website: www.hailshamyouthservice.org. Young people will not be allowed entry onto the premises without prior registration and will be granted entry on a first come first served basis.
Friday Night Project activity sessions are expected to be reintroduced later this summer.
