Hailsham Town Council has launched www.hailshamyouthservice.org, a website devoted to providing information on the Council’s wide range of projects, support services and opportunities for young people in the town.
The new website provides details on the Town Council’s various youth clubs and centres including its flagship facility, the Square Youth Café located in Market Square, which is open on weekdays to 9 to 17-year olds.
Also included on the website are the Friday Night Project (FNP), which works with partners including Knockhatch Adventure Park and Hailsham Community College to help create alternative recreational activities for young people on Friday evenings.
There is also information on the newly established Monday Club, which opens its doors to 11 to 14-year olds at the James West Community Centre (Brunel Drive) on 10th September, featuring activities such as 5-a-side football, table tennis, badminton, volleyball and much more.
As well as running clubs and centres, Hailsham Youth Service provides support services for young people, including that provided at Infopoint in Market Square, where young people have access to information and advice on all the issues that are important to them such as bullying, health, drug and sexual health issues.
The website also features photo and video galleries of youth project activities and regular news updates, as well as online parental consent and contact forms for use by parents/guardians.
Andy Joyes, Youth Project Coordinator at Hailsham Town Council said: “In recent months, the Town Council has expanded its youth service provision to include additional facilities and support services, so we thought it would be of benefit to the public if we merged our smaller youth services websites into one larger one, for ease of information.”
“The new website is a useful resource for people to find out more for about the youth services provided by the Town Council and be kept up-to-date on upcoming activities and opportunities.”
“A few parts of the website, including information on the launch of both the Youth Forum and Duke of Edinburgh Scheme will be added soon.”
