Hailsham Street Market Re-opening for 2016

Shopping & Retail, Town Revitalisation

Hailsham Street Market

A regular street market selling locally produced items and unique gifts is to re-open for the New Year on Saturday 30 January following a break after the festive period.

Around 20 stalls will be selling a range of local quality produce in Vicarage Field from 9.30am to 3pm every Saturday except the second Saturday when it will be held instead on the Thursday.

Items on sale include fresh fruit, vegetables and meat, pies and pasties, gifts, crafts and jewellery, cards, cakes, clothing, plants and flowers, shabby chic, beauty products and preserves.

A number of local producers operating at the new market already sell goods in other local markets such as the Hailsham Farmers’ Market which takes place on a monthly basis.

The continuation of the Hailsham Street Market, which was launched in August 2013, is just one of a number of projects being carried out by the Hailsham Forward Town Team in partnership with the Town Council and local Chamber of Commerce, aimed at improving retail opportunities locally and increasing footfall within the town.

“I’m delighted that the street market is continuing throughout 2016 in the town centre,” said Deputy Town Clerk and Business Enterprise Manager Mickey Caira.

“By supporting local producers, growers, suppliers and offering them the opportunity to sell locally – markets are an ideal way of showcasing the diverse range of products available in Hailsham and I’d encourage people to come down to Vicarage Field and support independent trade.”
