People living or working in Hailsham are being invited to attend the inaugural meeting of Hailsham Forward’s new Residents’ Forum in early July.

The aim of the meeting, which is being held at the Civic Community Hall in Vicarage Lane at 7pm on 7th July 2015, is to launch a new discussion group for residents to ask questions and voice their views on topical local issues that are raised by, or affect, members of the community.

Forum meetings will be attended by members of the Hailsham Forward Town Team and councillors, take place quarterly.

The first meeting will be attended by Wealden District Council planning officers and look at housing developments in Hailsham, followed by a questions and answers session. Everyone is welcome to attend. Suggestions for topics of discussion at future forum meetings will be welcomed.

If you wish to attend the first meeting please write to Mickey Caira (Town Council Offices, Market Street, Hailsham, BN27 2AE) or email mickey.caira@hailsham-tc.gov.uk. If you will be attending and have a question for the forum, please include your question in all correspondence, so the relevant information can be gathered and made available at the meeting.

Town and district Councillor Nick Collinson, who is a member of the Hailsham Forward Executive said:

“Setting up this forum is a really positive and crucial step and we are committed to continue to develop our understanding of the needs of people living in Hailsham and its environs.

We hope to encourage ideas and action for the benefit of the Hailsham community, although the success of the Residents’ Forum will depend on support from as many residents as possible. I would encourage all residents to get involved and attend these meetings when they can.”

The creation of the new forum has been welcomed by the Mayor of Hailsham, Councillor Nigel Coltman.

“This is a great opportunity to have a real say in ways to further improve our town,”

he said.

“The first forum meeting on 7th July will allow residents to comment on the recent housing developments including those in north Hailsham and east of Battle Road, and planning officers will be available to answer any questions and bring us up to date on future developments in the town.”

Rob Slater, Chairman of the Hailsham Forward Executive commented:

“This forum is about Hailsham and its residents. We need their input so that we as Hailsham Forward know we are working for the right things. It is important that we get as many residents as possible to take part.”
