In Bloom Judges with Environment Hailsham Members

Hailsham clinched a Silver-Gilt award at the South & South East In Bloom Awards Ceremony held at the Brighton & Hove Albion Football Club Amex Stadium in Brighton on Friday [11 September].

In its seventh year of competing, the town was awarded a Silver Gilt certificate in the Large Town category in recognition of the efforts made by Environment Hailsham (formerly Hailsham In Bloom) volunteers to complete a number of horticultural projects during the past twelve months.

Factors that particularly impressed the judges were the town centre’s floral displays in North Street, George Street and the High Street, improved road sign flower planters and new plant beds, as well as the high level of involvement in projects from local businesses and younger members of the community.

Environment Hailsham chairman Richard Grocock was delighted with the award: “This is a fantastic achievement for both the town and the people of Hailsham. Our team of volunteers should be extremely proud for getting so helping us get so far in this competition and the success of Environment Hailsham is testament to the fantastic job they do, making our town look attractive and helping to create a great sense of community spirit.”

“I must also thank our many sponsors and donors who have offered us financial support this year. Our success this year would not have happened without their generosity.”

“I hope that more people in the town get behind us and offer their support with future Environment Hailsham projects.”

Town Mayor Councillor Nigel Coltman commended the Environment Hailsham team for their efforts: “This is excellent news and I congratulate everyone involved for all the hard work they have put in and who have contributed to Hailsham’s success in the competition.”

Environment Hailsham has a number of new and interesting projects outlined for the future. For further information, contact Richard Grocock on 01323 842931 or search for “Environment Hailsham” on Facebook.
