Local representatives for a youth employment training scheme set up in 2013 showed their support by attending a special ceremony to celebrate the achievements of young people who have completed the latest course as part of the Hailsham Works! project.

Hailsham Town Clerk John Harrison joined Hailsham Works! Project staff for the latest graduation ceremony which took place at the Town Council offices yesterday [18 December], at which framed certificates were presented to graduates.

Awards were given to a number of graduates including Alicia Braiden, Rhys Downes and Luke Jones.

“The Town Council is once again delighted with the latest training cohort and the success of the Hailsham Works! since its launch in September 2013,” said Deputy Town Mayor Councillor Amanda O’Rawe. “Many of our young people are gaining valuable experience through the various apprenticeships made available to them as a result of the Hailsham Works! programme.”

Town Clerk John Harrison, who presented the certificates to graduates said: “Congratulations to the latest cohort which graduated with success. I’m very grateful to Jan and her team for the valuable support they have given to the young people of our town. Hailsham Works! does a fantastic job and it’s great to see everyone so enthusiastic about what they are doing.”

“I wish everyone the very best for the future and every success to those starting out in their life careers.”

Hailsham Works! Team Leader Jan Townsend said: “We’re delighted to see our latest cohort graduate with so many successes, they have all worked so hard. We will continue to keep in contact with our graduates and offer them support if needed on an ongoing basis. Well done everyone!”

“We would also like to thank the Councillor O’Rawe for her continued personal support to our young people as she takes the time to present certificates to our latest graduates.”

“If you know anybody who would benefit from being part of the Hailsham Works scheme, please get in touch with us.”
