Further plans and a schedule of activities and entertainment have been confirmed for this year’s Stand Proud in Hailsham event – Stand Proud 3 – with organisers confident that the third instalment will build on the success of the previous two annual celebrations and attract even greater community participation.
Hailsham Town Council is pleased to confirm its support for Stand Proud 3, which will take place at the White Hart (Horsebridge) on Saturday 27th June, from noon until midnight.
Held in recognition of Pride Month, the event aims to celebrate diversity, promote inclusivity and demonstrate solidarity with the LGBTQ+ community. In support of these objectives, the Town Council has part-funded the event with a contribution of £1,750.
The programme will feature a diverse range of live entertainment throughout the day and evening. Performers include rhythm and blues act Moss Casa, acoustic duo The Management, cover band School’s Out, and rock, indie and pop group Nightflame. Popular drag artist Fonda Cox will return as the headline performer, following highly successful appearances at previous Stand Proud events.
Additional activities will include children’s entertainment provided by Awesome Alfie, alongside Sweet Circus Experience, Name That Tune and Rainbow Bingo hosted by Sam. Food and refreshments will be available from Sparkles by the Pond, and face painting will be offered by Char.
An itinerary of entertainment and activities has been confirmed:
Following the strong attendance at last year’s event, organisers are encouraging visitors to bring picnic chairs and blankets to ensure sufficient seating throughout the day. A watershed will be in place from 7pm to help maintain a safe and welcoming environment for all attendees.
Mary Laxton, co-organiser of Stand Proud in Hailsham, commented on the event’s continued growth: “The response to previous events has demonstrated just how important occasions like this are to the community. We have seen people of all ages and backgrounds come together in a positive and welcoming atmosphere, and we are committed to building on that success this year.”
She added: “Stand Proud is about celebration, visibility and community spirit. We look forward to welcoming residents and visitors alike on 27th June for what promises to be an inclusive and enjoyable day for everyone.”
Event co-organiser Colin Mitchell also highlighted the wider significance of the occasion: “It is extremely encouraging to see the event go from strength to strength and to witness the level of support shown by the town. Stand Proud is both a celebration and a reflection of Hailsham’s commitment to equality and inclusion.”
“By providing financial support for events such as Stand Proud in Hailsham, the Town Council reaffirms its commitment to promoting diversity, equality and community cohesion. We are pleased to support an event that brings people together in a spirit of unity and respect.”
