The countdown is on to Hailsham’s Food & Drink Market which takes place in the town centre on Saturday 30th July from 9.30am until 4pm.

Further preparations for the event have been made by the Town Council’s Communities Committee in partnership with Hailsham Forward, and organisers are confident that it will be a great family event offering something for everyone.

Vicarage Field will take on a distinctly continental flavour when Italia in Piazza – an authentic Italian market — will return to Hailsham having attended the town’s Continental Markets in the past.

The Italian food market will have several stalls selling traditional food including cheeses, cured meats, pasta, olive oils, vinegars and regional specialities. All produce will be imported directly from producers in Italy.

The market will also feature the usual Saturday Hailsham Street Market stalls selling a range of locally sourced food, gifts and accessories.

Historic Hailsham Parish Church will be open to welcome visitors and serve refreshments from 11am to 2pm, and Hailsham FM will be broadcasting the event live.

Deputy Town Mayor and Chairman of the Town Council’s Communities Committee Councillor Amanda O’Rawe said: “We’ve been working hard on the Summer Food & Drink Market and the arrival of Italia in Piazza on the day demonstrates how our town centre is very much open for business by giving people the opportunity to sample products not normally available on to them locally. It will also bring variety and vibrancy to the town centre!”

Communities Committee Vice-Chairman Councillor Chriss Triandafyllou commented: “The range of stalls and products offered at the forthcoming Summer Food & Drink Market is diverse and I hope that as many people as possible will come along and take advantage of what’s on offer.”
