Hailsham Town Council and project partner Hailsham Forward are happy to announce that final preparations are being made for a Vintage Themed Market in Vicarage Field and Hailsham High Street on Saturday 25 July, from 9.30am to 7pm.

Organisers are confident that it will be a great family event offering something for everyone, featuring stalls selling a wide range of fine food and gifts from local traders, as well as vintage products and much more.

Two vintage automobiles will be displayed including a 1927 4½ litre Bentley sports car in top condition with a top speed of 90 mph and an elegant white 1951 Jaguar KX120 3 ½ litre open top sports car with twin overhead camshaft engine and le Mans style louvred bonnet (top speed 125 mph)

It has now been announced that the Mad Hatter’s tea stand will be serving tea, scones and cakes and there will be chairs and tables to enjoy the tea and entertainment. A bar set up by Chapter 12 and a hog roast will also complement the market

There will be live entertainment throughout the day while you browse, with The Memphis Flyers band performing from 12.30pm to 2.30pm, Swingtime Sweethearts from 3.15pm to 4.30pm and the Peter Wilson Quartet (jazz music) showing from 5pm to 7pm.

Hailsham FM will be playing music and announcing events and historic Hailsham Parish Church will be open to welcome visitors at various times throughout the day.

Councillor Amanda O’Rawe, Deputy Town Mayor and Chairman of the town Council’s Communities Committee said: “The special Vintage Themed Market hopes to provide a fantastic shopping experience for all as well as further trading opportunities for a number of niche traders and businesses from Hailsham and nearby areas.”

“By organising this and other themed markets we can provide shoppers with the chance to pick up some one-off finds whilst enjoying a distinctive and vibrant atmosphere with the fantastic line-up of live entertainment.”

Councillor Chriss Triandafyllou, Vice-Chairman of the Communities Committee said: “We have worked hard with Hailsham Forward in recent months to make the necessary preparations for the Vintage Market and are grateful to everyone involved for supporting us from the outset.”

Hailsham Town Council and Hailsham Forward are currently organising a Summer Market on Saturday 29 August. Further details on this event will be announced in the near future.
